JCM Racing Unveils Dynamic Two-Car Top Fuel Team for 2024 NHRA Season

In 2024, the Maynard family's JCM Racing team, established in 2022, is set to make a significant impact in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. This Brownsburg, Indiana-based team, led by Joe and Cathi Maynard, operates as a two-car Top Fuel team, marking a new yet familiar presence in the racing world.

The team's flagship car is helmed by Tony Schumacher, an eight-time world champion and the most successful Top Fuel driver in NHRA history. Schumacher will be pursuing his ninth series title under the guidance of crew chiefs Mike Neff and Jon Schaffer. Alongside him, driving JCM Racing’s second Top Fuel dragster, is Ida Zetterström, the 2023 European FIA Top Fuel champion. Zetterström, hailing from the Åland Islands in Finland, is relocating to the United States to chase her dream of competing for an NHRA world championship. She is expected to make her NHRA debut in the late spring, aiming for the title of NHRA’s 2024 Rookie of the Year.

The team's success is already notable, with seven national event wins in just over a year, including a victory at the 2022 NHRA Northwest Nationals. This achievement underscores JCM Racing's commitment to excellence and growth in the drag racing industry.

Adding to the team's dynamic is the introduction of two generations of Maynards to the race track. Joe C. Maynard, son of the team owner, is set to debut in the Top Alcohol Dragster category, while his son, Shelby Maynard, will start his career in the Jr. Dragster ranks. This move reflects the team's focus on nurturing new talent and growing the sport.

JCM Racing is not just about competing at the highest levels but also fostering future generations of racers. Their Driver Development program, launched in 2023, supports upcoming drivers across NHRA's divisions, emphasizing the team's broader mission to contribute positively to the world of drag racing.

With a strong lineup featuring Schumacher and Zetterström in Top Fuel, and the Maynard family in the Sportsman ranks, JCM Racing is poised for an exciting and impactful 2024 season. The team's family-oriented approach and dedication to developing new talent make them a formidable presence in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Certified Child Seat Installation Now Offered By Brownsburg Police

The Brownsburg Police Department has established itself as a permanent installation center for child restraint seats. Guardians and parents are encouraged to book a time to verify the correct setup of their child restraint seats.

Regular evaluations of child restraint seats are advised, especially following a major collision. At this installation center, certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians from the Brownsburg Police Department are available to aid in fitting and responding to inquiries. These trained professionals will review the child's travel arrangements, inspect the current restraint for any recalls, ensure it fits appropriately, and confirm it's installed correctly. They will also guide the caregiver or parent on the correct usage and installation of the child restraint.

Appointments can be made by contacting Officer Crosby via email. For those looking for additional installation centers nearby, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute's website offers information.

Lend a Hand in Preserving Nature: Brownsburg Parks' Weed Wrangle Seeks Volunteers

Brownsburg Parks is inviting community members to join the annual Weed Wrangle® event series. This initiative is part of a national movement to eliminate invasive plant species from public areas. These invasive species pose a threat to native plants and biodiversity, disrupt soil composition, affect the food chain, and can increase wildfire risks.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in removing various invasive plants, such as trees, vines, and flowering species, under expert supervision. This activity is also an educational opportunity to learn about managing invasive species in personal green spaces. Volunteers should bring their work gloves; all other necessary safety equipment will be provided.

To participate, sign up online. Volunteers should be comfortable using tools like hedge shears, hand pruners, loppers, and pruning saws. Minors aged 13 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
