Brownsburg’s Brayton Lee Suffers 1st Loss of the Season At the NCAA Big 10 College Wrestling Championships on Saturday

In a heartbreaking semi final match,of the Big 10 NCAA College Wrestling Championships last night, Brayton Lee suffered his first loss of the season in overtime to Will Lewan of Michigan, whom he had beaten earlier in the season.
Brayton Lee, ranked 3rd in the national rankings, won his quarterfinals match with a score of 6-5 over No. 6 Chase Saldate of Michigan State earlier in the day, Saturday.

IU’s Brayton Lee wins Quarter Finals match at Big 10 Wrestling Championship 6-5
The semi finals match was a close one with Lee taking a 1-0 lead early in the second period. Lee attempted several takedowns with Lewan always slipping away and out of bounds or shaking off Lee’s shots. Lee was the aggressor, on offense for the entire match with Lewan playing defense continuously thwarting Lee’s takedown attempts throughout the match.
The match was tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation creating a sudden death situation with the first to score taking the win.
Lee attempted several aggressive shots on Lewan with Lewan again on the defensive until finally Lee got caught overextended on his last shot and Lewan was able to defend by taking the counter shot catching Lee on his heels and off balance, resulting in Lee going to the mat with Lewan scoring the winning takedown.
A heartbreaker for Lee for sure in his final season in college wrestling. Lee now advances to the wrestle back round to ultimately wrestle for 3rd-6th place today, Sunday March 10, 2024. The silver lining is that with his performance at the Big 10 Championships, Lee has qualified to go on and wrestle in the 2024 NCAA National Championship for the 3rd time in his collegiate career.

2024-2025 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
The 2024-2025 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now available to file at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa .
Filing the FAFSA is the most important step in the financial aid process and determines eligibility for both state of Indiana and federal aid. Students pursuing short-term certificate training, associate/bachelor’s degrees and even some apprenticeships may receive financial aid by completing the FAFSA. The state deadline to file is April 15, 2024. Check the financial aid websites of post-secondary institutions for deadline information because some have sooner deadlines. It is recommended to file the FAFSA as soon as possible. The attached flyer includes information for how, when, and what you need to file the FAFSA. Please note the FAFSA requires 2022 tax return information.
Creating an FSA ID (Federal Student Aid log-in) is the first step, and both the student and at least one parent need an account. There is a delay from the time the FSA ID is created until you can use it, so it is recommended to do this well ahead of time before starting and submitting the FAFSA. To create the FSA ID, visit https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch . The FSA ID is how students and parents sign and submit the FAFSA.
Here are some helpful financial aid websites to learn more about the FAFSA:
A video recording of our September financial aid presentation by INvestEd can also be found on the Team 2024 website at https://bhs.brownsburg.k12.in.us/brownsburg-high-school/team-2024
Note: The Indiana General Assembly passed Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 167-2023 which requires high school seniors to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or affirmatively opt out of filing by April 15th. If you plan to opt out, please fill out the FAFSA Waiver Form at https://www.in.gov/che/files/57326-2024-2025-FAFSA-Nonparticipation-for-Students-Graduating-2023-2024-1.pdf, and submit it to the Team 2024 office by April 15th.

We will have laptops available for this event. This is also a great opportunity should you have financial aid questions.
Important note from INvestEd: There is a delay from the time the FSA ID is created until the family is able to use it (possibly 1-4 days).
