April 2024 Brownsburg Police Commission Recap: Strategic Updates and Community Praise
(Brownsburg Police Commission Meeting - April 9, 2024)

Opening and Invocation: The meeting commenced with an invocation by the Brownsburg Police Department Chaplain, Stephen Stone from Liberty Baptist Church, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, acknowledging divine guidance and protection for the community and the police force.
Quorum Confirmation and Agenda Approval: It was confirmed that a quorum was present, despite the absence of Mr. Cooper and Mr. Blante. The agenda for April 9th, 2024, was approved unanimously.
Previous Meeting Minutes: The commission approved the minutes from the March 12th, 2024 meeting without any amendments.

Police Chief's Report: Chief Joe Grimes discussed various items:
Expense Report: Mentioned an increase in fuel usage due to staffing upsurges, signaling a need for budget adjustments.
Analyst Recruitment Update: Shared that 30 pre-applications were received for the forensic analyst position, with 26 moving forward in the process.
Officer Recruitment Update: 15 candidates were placed on a hiring eligibility list after completing oral interviews, with the top five proceeding to background checks.
Criminal Intelligence Analyst Introduction: Michael Langman, newly appointed and formerly with the FBI, was introduced, highlighting his role and future contributions.
Youth Police and Fire Summer Camp: Announced that 100 applications were received just hours after opening registration, with a cap at 150 participants.
Training Facility Relocation: Discussed ongoing dialogues about relocating and expanding the police training facility for better resource management and training opportunities.
New Business:
Citizen Academy Feedback: Positive feedback was received from participants, suggesting more hands-on activities and better marketing.
