🏨 Brownsburg Plan Commission Approves New Holiday Inn Express

Brownsburg's Advisory Plan Commission unanimously approved plans for a new 87-room Holiday Inn Express on October 26. The proposed hotel would be built on approximately two acres in the Heritage Business Center near I-74 and Maplehurst Drive, featuring 94 parking spaces and pedestrian access.

Traffic concerns were discussed during the meeting, with roadway improvements and a new traffic signal at Whittington Drive planned for 2027–2028. The hotel project must still meet technical and stormwater requirements before construction permits can be issued.

The development would provide additional lodging options for Brownsburg visitors, business travelers, and sporting event attendees.

Brownsburg Agrees to $465,000 Settlement in Firefighters' Overtime Lawsuit

The Town of Brownsburg has agreed to a $465,000 settlement involving a federal lawsuit filed by 68 firefighters over allegations of unpaid overtime and improper wage calculations.

The lawsuit, filed in May 2025 by Hendricks County Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4406, alleged that the town violated federal labor laws in calculating overtime compensation.

The proposed settlement includes approximately $141,342 in unpaid wages, $117,342 in additional damages, and $206,317 in legal fees and expenses.

Brownsburg denies wrongdoing, and the settlement still requires federal court approval. The town has since implemented a new hourly pay system intended to simplify overtime calculations.

Brownsburg to Consider Changes to Two Tax Increment Financing Districts

The Brownsburg Redevelopment Commission has scheduled public hearings for November 3 to consider changes to two local tax increment financing (TIF) areas.

The agenda includes proposals to:

  • Eliminate the Retail Properties TIF district, an economic development area associated with commercial development.

  • Remove certain parcels from the Wynne Farms TIF allocation area, adjusting the boundaries of the existing district.

TIF districts allow communities to direct certain property tax revenues generated by development toward eligible public improvements and economic development projects.

The commission will consider confirmatory resolutions following the public hearings. The agenda does not establish that either resolution has been approved.
